HIEMT - High Intense Electro Magnetic Therapy

HIEMT stands for High Intense Electro Magnetic Therapy. It uses FDA approved technology and has been around since 2018. Its a pain free, non invasive fast and effective way to simultaneously burn fat and build muscle.

The Science

HI-EMT targets the muscle beneath stubborn fat, causing the muscle to contract in the treatment area. These muscular contractions are carried out in a series of high intensity alternating pulse rates throughout the treatment, inducing around 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions.

These are much stronger and intense than those achieved through regular exercise (For example - A normal person uses 20% of the muscle during exercise, An Olympic athlete around 30%, but HIEMT is 95%)

The other existing non surgical body treatments on the market target the skin and fat.

HIEMT targets the muscle, burning the surrounding fat to build the muscle.

During the treatment muscle hypertrophy occurs and the body rebuilds and repairs the muscle by fusing the damaged fibres together to increase the mass and size of the muscle. HIEMT also leads to new muscle cells being made (Hyperplasia).

Whilst doing all this HIEMT destroys excess fat because the muscle requires calories fast to fuel the contractions.

Additionally the electro magnetic pulse works the muscle so hard during the treatment that the muscle releases free fatty acids too.

And all without lactic acid build up and the aches the following day thanks to the machine dispersing this every 5 mins during the treatment.

There have been 7 independent studies recorded - these all had consistent results of both muscle gain and fat loss.

These studies were conducted using, Ultrasound, MRI, CT and tissue histology.

Magnetic technology has been around for decades and has been proven safe. It has no effect on other tissue including organs as only tissue with motor neurons are responsive to the energy.

The Treatment

A full client consultation and consent will be completed at your first appointment along with any photos and measurements to track your progress (Images are only used with written consent).

You will remain clothed during the treatment but must remove metal objects and electrical devices from your person.

Its recommended you are well hydrated for the treatment and wear comfortable clothing (not jeans).

You'll be seated comfortably and the pads attached over clothes to the area to be treated.

The treatment will begin with a warm up tapping mode and the power will be increased to your comfortability as you get used to the sensation during the first session.

The Numbers

A course of 4 sessions are sold and should be used within 2 weeks with at least a day between sessions. Courses of 6 and 8 also available.

The treatment takes 30mins each session and burns an average of 19% body fat in the treated area and simultaneously increases muscle by an average of16% in the treated area.

Each 30 minute session is the equivalent to 5.5 hrs exercise and 20,000 crunches or squats and you'll be doing that 4 times in less than 2 weeks whilst laying still.

HIEMT increases the metabolism by 5 times and a course of 4 sessions is reported to provide an average loss of 4cm on the waist when treating that area.

Results are often felt immediately after first session with visible improved results showing at 2-4 weeks after course and improving for several weeks after.

Clinical trials found max results seen at 2 months after course of treatment.

This treatment truly is pain free and ideal for those with only a small layer of fat (those with less than 2.6cm grabbable body fat in the treatment area.

Results last approximately 6 months but once you have gained the muscle it's simply on you to keep it.

Top up sessions are recommended every 3 months for the best results.

Areas Treated

Abdomen, Buttocks, Thighs and Upper Arms

For prices - see the prices tab.

With the treatment you will see an improvement in abdominal tone, strengthening of the muscles, development of a firmer abdomen, strengthening toning and firming of buttocks and thighs. Improvement of muscle tone, firmness and strength in the arms.

Contraindications - People who are not suitable for this treatment

If you have had a C-section with in the last year you can unfortunately not have this treatment.

If you are Pregnant, Lactating or have a Heart or Lung Condition, Pacemaker, Implanted electrical device, Cancer, Epilepsy, Liver or Kidney Disease, Sufferers of Physiological Hypotonic conditions such as ME, Cardiovascular or Cerebral Disease, Systemic Immune System (HIV or AIDS), Blood Clotting Disorders such as Thrombosis , DVT & Haemophilic or taking blood thinning medications, Hernia or weakened stomach muscle walls, Metal IUD, Plates or pins in the body.

I also do not treat anyone under the age of 18.

Consent from your GP is needed if you have high or low blood pressure, taking any meds that affect liver function, other immunity disorders, any undiagnosed lumps or swellings, history of hernia or donated or received an organ transplant.

No anaesthetic is needed, no recovery time and No downtime.

Its advised you take it easy training the treatment area in the gym during the 2 weeks you are having the treatment as this can cause muscle strain.

HIEMT or HIFU - What's best for your Tummy?

The answer depends on the amount of grabbable fat you have on your tummy.

As the HIFU body treatment price includes treating 2 depths of the fat (1.3cm and 0.8cm) to melt two layers of fat you ideally would have 2.6cm or more grabbable fat. If you have less than 1.6cm grabbable fat then the HIFU is not suitable and so HIEMT would be the ideal treatment. But anything less than 2.6cm grabbable fat make HIEMT the preferred treatment.

If you have 2.6cm of grabbable fat on your tummy and you could later have HIEMT to burn off the last remainders and tone the muscle.

However if you have Diastasis Recti then I would suggest HIEMT as you will burn some fat but also close the gap within the muscles simultaneously whilst strengthening them.

At a free consultation I can measure this for you and give you your options.

HIEMT for Diastasis Recti

Diastasis Recti is the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominis, or "six pack" muscles, which meet in the midline of your stomach. Diastasis Recti is very common during and following pregnancy. This is because the uterus stretches the muscles in the abdomen to accommodate the growing baby.

If months after having your baby you still have a pregnant looking tummy it could be that diastasis recti is to blame. Its extremely common effecting two thirds of pregnant women. This caused by the over stretching of the tissue and it's lost its elasticity - and therefore the ability to retract back into position. Leaving you with a pooch diet and exercise struggles to fix.

If you aren't sure if you have it then there is a simple test you can do yourself - Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Put one hand on your belly, with your fingers on your midline at your naval. Press your fingertips down gently, and bring your head (shoulders stay on the ground) up into a mini crunch. Feel the sides of your rectus abdominis muscles, and see if and how far they are separated.

Separation is commonly discussed in finger widths - 2, 3 or more fingers separation.

HIEMT helps repair the tissue and close the gap - Around an 11% reduction in muscle separation is seen from a course of 4 sessions whilst burning fat and building muscle in the treatment area too.

HIEMT Before & After Images

Unfortunately the majority of our clients do not consent to their body images being used online and we never use images that are not our own or without approval from the client. So this is a brief slideshow.

Disclaimer

You may experience some soreness over the next few days after treatment, and you may feel tenderness in the treatment area (you have just done the equivalent to 20,000 squats or crunches!) but this is rare, mild and temporary in nature.

Treatment may aggravate Eczema or Psoriasis or cause a flare up after treatment within the treatment area.
